STUDENTS EXPOSED TO THE IMPORTANCE OF MILLIMETER WAVE WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY
HAULPASS E10G CONNECTS CAL POLY MAIN CAMPUS TO LANTERMAN CAMPUS SOUTH
Vubiq Networks has partnered with California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) to educate students about advanced millimeter wave wireless technology and to foster research and development into extremely high frequency (EHF) telecommunications applications. Vubiq has donated a pair of HaulPass E10g low-latency 10 Gbps radios to the university.
The innovative HaulPass E10g radios communicate over the lightly licensed 80 GHz E-Band spectrum. The wireless link connects Cal Poly Pomona’s main campus to the university’s Lanterman Campus South, traversing 2.3 km. The high-speed wireless installation is now live and successfully operating at 10 Gbps.
Dan Montplaisir, Vice President of Advancement at Cal Poly Pomona, stated, “As a recognized leader in STEM [science, technology, engineering and math] education, Cal Poly Pomona is delighted to partner with Vubiq Networks and Ganpat University in exploring the latest technologies that will influence our digital future. We have a responsibility to expose our students to the ideas and trends that will drive innovation and opportunity for the next generation of scientists and engineers and Vubiq Networks is allowing us to do that.”
Cal Poly Pomona is among the best public universities in the west and is nationally ranked for helping students achieve success. As an inclusive polytechnic institution, the university cultivates success through experiential learning, discovery and innovation, as is evident by the HaulPass E10g advanced technology installation. Cal Poly Pomona utilizes a technology-enhanced, learn-by-doing approach to education. The university’s students enjoy endless opportunities for involvement in a vibrant and diverse community.
Cal Poly Pomona and Ganpat University Cooperation
Cal Poly Pomona and Ganpat University (GUNI) in India and have issued a memorandum of understanding, recognizing that universities need to operate in a global environment of cooperation in the development of educational and technology initiatives for engineering students, faculties and R&D. Vubiq Networks has donated a pair of HaulPass V10g low-latency millimeter wave radios – the first and only 10 Gbps V-Band wireless link in the industry – to GUNI. We are proud to be collaborating with both Cal Poly Pomona and GUNI to help educate engineering students on the importance of millimeter wave wireless technology in advancing the state of the art in emerging fields such as 5G telecommunications backhaul.
